Detailed Itinerary

  • DAY 1: – Arrive in Luang Prabang

    Welcome to the charming town of Luang Prabang, an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Set between the Nam Khan and Mekong Rivers and surrounded by mountains, Luang Prabang is the most popular tourist attraction in Laos. Upon arrival at Luang Prabang Airport, you will be taken to the hotel. The rest of the day can be spent at leisure exploring the town on your own. Take a stroll on the main roads which are filled with golden-roofed temples, wooden houses and crumbling French provincial buildings. At dawn, you can see monks from the various monasteries walking through the streets collecting alms of rice.

  • DAY 2: – Luang Prabang – City Tour

    After breakfast at the hotel, proceed for full day city tour of Luang Prabang. The town is filled with historic temples and colonial style buildings, so the entire town of Luang Prabang is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The tour begins with a visit to Wat Visoun, the oldest temple in the town dating back to 1513. Then visit the nearby Wat Aham and continue to Wat Xieng Thong, the most historically significant and impressive of Luang Prabang's many wats. From there, take a stroll on the main street of Luang Prabang stopping at some of the temples that line its sides. Then continue to the Royal Palace which was converted into National Musuem (closed on Tuesdays). The architecture of the Royal Palace features a combination of traditional Laos and French Beaux Arts styles. Visit Wat Mai located near the Royal Palace. Then climb the hillside stairs of Phousi Hill for a panoramic view of the town and sunset.

  • DAY 3: – Kuang Si Waterfall Tour

    After breakfast at the hotel, proceed for full day Kuang Si waterfall tour. This picturesque waterfall nestled in the lush tropical forest is just 30 km south of Luang Prabang and the road to the falls winds through hills with spectacular natural views, including terraced rice fields. This water fall has limestone terraces forming numerous turquoise blue pools. Most of these natural pools are open for swimming. Take a short walk through the forest and surrounding rice fields and enjoy a refreshing bath in the clear waters. Return to Luang Prabang. Then visit Ban Xang Khong, a village near Luang Prabang known for its traditional hand woven cotton and silk, as well as production of the local sa (mulberry) paper.

  • DAY 4: – Travel to Pakse

    After breakfast at the hotel, airport transfers will be arranged to take you to the airport for your flight to Pakse. Pakse is the main gateway to the Southern Laos giving access to the Bolaven plateau, waterfalls and the Si Phan Don region in the far south. Situated at the confluence of the Mekong River and the Se Don River, Pakse is the capital of Champasak Province. Upon arrival at Pakse airport, you will be taken to the hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure.

  • DAY 5: – Bolaven Plateau and Waterfalls Tour

    After breakfast at the hotel, proceed for a full day tour of Bolaven Plateau and waterfalls. Travel east across the highland areas of Bolaven Plateau spreading over 50 km of Southern Laos known for its temperate climate, lush landscape, coffee plantations and scenic waterfalls. As you travel along the road between Pakse and Paksong, several stops are made to visit the scenic waterfalls such as Tad E-Tu waterfall, Tad Yuang waterfall and Tad Fane waterfall. Tad E-Tu waterfall has stairs to the waterfall and Tad Yuang has a picnic area with some restaurants. Tad Fane waterfall is a picturesque twin set of waterfalls spilling 200 m down into a deep abyss. You can see this waterfall from a distance. Proceed towards Salavan to visit some minority villages. On the way back to Pakse, visit some more waterfalls including Tad Lo, a scenic 10 m high waterfall and Tad Hang, a lower waterfall with pools perfect for swimming.

  • DAY 6: – Explore Don Khong and Khone Phapeng Waterfall

    After breakfast at the hotel, travel towards south to Don Khong Island, the largest island of Si Phan Don Group of islands in Mekong River in southern Laos. From Ban Nakasang, a river ferry will take you to Don Khong. Before taking the ferry, travel further south to visit Khone Phapeng Waterfalls, the largest waterfall in Southeast Asia. From the east bank of Mekong River, see these spectacular waterfalls cascading across the wide mound of rocks. After visiting the waterfall, arrive at Ban Nakasang and take the river ferry to Don Khong. Check-in to the hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Explore the village and see the lifestyle of the islanders.

  • DAY 7: – Boat Tour of Don Khone Island and Irrawaddy Dolphins

    After breakfast at the hotel, board a long tail boat from Ban Nakasang to reach Don Khon which will take about 25mins. The boat cruises through the mighty Mekong River. During the rainy season, it reaches up to 12 km in width and when the water recedes it leaves behind a myriad of islands and islets. Arrive at Don Kone Island and see the old railway bridge built by the French 1897 to avoid the powerful rapids disrupting the navigation on the Mekong River. Visit the south coast of Don Khone to spot the rare freshwater Irrawaddy dolphins. Small boat services are available to the picturesque village of Ban Hang Khon to give tourists closer views of the dolphins. Return to Don Khong.

  • DAY 8: – Take an Elephant Ride en route to Pakse

    After breakfast at the hotel, transfers will be arranged to take you to Pakse. En route, visit Ban Khiat Ngong village for an Elephant ride. It slowly ascends to the top of Phou Asa Mountain. From the hilltop, enjoy the beautiful views over the surrounding countryside and return to the village. The entire ride takes approximately 2 hours. Then continue the drive to Pakse. Arrive at Pakse and check-in to the hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure.

  • DAY 9: – Depart from Pakse

    After breakfast, transfers will be arranged to take you to the airport for your flight back home.
